Holy hell. When I ordered these sunglasses I was incredibly sceptical that the quality could come anywhere close to matching the price. On the face of it they’re a fairly standard pair of aviators, and I know from experience that there’s almost no point trying to make a *really* high quality pair of aviators. The frames are just too slim to make them feel like a luxury item, so at a glance it can be really difficult to tell the difference between a $10 pair and $200.

I just received the glasses. It’s almost 1AM so I haven’t been able to test them in the sun yet, but as soon as I put them on I could tell that SuperX aren’t messing around with their boasts of ‘Advanced Color Vision’. I have an old, well worn oriental rug in my home office, originally a vivid red but now so worn and sun-bleached that’s it’s mostly brown, beige and orange. Through these lenses, though, the rug once again appears a vivid bright red. Like ‘have I just swallowed something I shouldn’t have?’ vivid.

Looking around my apartment, even late at night under dim 3000K bulbs, everything that carries even the slightest hint of colour jumps right out at me. I’m not talking about a pair of lenses that just gives everything a uniform colour cast. This ain’t that. This is something I’ve never experienced before, and I’m no stranger to high end sunglasses. These lenses offer the highest contrast of any I’ve ever tested. They’re spectacular.

Now do you *need* superhuman colour vision? I guess that’s up to you to decide. Personally I don’t, but if you have a pressing need to see colours in their most vivid, vibrant, contrasty form – if that ability is worth $200 to you – I highly recommend these sunglasses.

These glasses really change the way colors look. Greens and reds pop out. Makes for a different view of the world than you get with regular old eyes. Quality is good, the glasses look great, and they are very good quality. Not a single complaint about these.

Updated: After trying these now for almost one week, I can see the enhanced color vision being a benefit in certain situations. It depends on the sun conditions and possibly the activity, as certain colors come through more enhanced than others. I used the playing golf a couple of times, and it made it a little easier to see the ball (green or yellow), and the grass and surrounding brush, but the muted colors like brown and white, did not seem to change much. The rest of my review below, other than the color enhancement stays the same and that is why I only moved this rating to 4 stars.

They sell these as “advanced color vision technology” and I honestly could only tell a very slight, and I do mean slight difference. Those colors that were already bright (almost neon like) you got a little more vibrancy, but for everyday colors almost no perceptible difference. The difference was definitely not worth the price point.
Also for glasses at this price point I would expect better quality features. It seems that most sunglasses these days have spring loaded temples, for easy on and off, and these do not. They fit quite tight, and so a little flexibility would make for a better fit. The ends of the ear pieces have a rough edge. So the first time I put them on I felt it scratching above my ears, due to the unsmooth ends.
The nose piece does have a softer rubber insert, so it does sit well and comfortably on the nose.
These are nice sunglasses, but if the technology selling point doesn’t make a big difference, which is my experience, they are definitely not worth the price point.

The frame is nice. The glass has no perceptible differences between this pair and non “advanced vision technology” glass. Not sure the why the price is that high. Other than that – recommended.
