This album is great… David Lindley and Jackson Browne – it doesn’t get much better than this! Great selection of songs with added, interesting muscians from Spain. The sound recording is great quality and the packaging of the album is original.

Ottima performance di tutti e due.
Grande acustica, grande coinvolgimento, grande tecnica.
Album dal vivo con una registrazione impeccabile e dei brani con assolo strepitosi.
Se piace il genere, o anche se non piace, è un album con caratteristiche ottime, sia acustiche che di registrazione.
    Buon ascolto.

Longtime lovers of the music of Jackson Browne will recognize David Lindley as the musician who played guitar, slide guitar and violin on Browne’s early albums. For me, Lindley’s work on Late for the Sky, remains a great achievement. The two were longtime partners — before Jackson could afford his own touring band, Lindley was his sole accompanist on many early tours. Fast forward to 2010 and the two friends and collaborators are together again, this time playing music in Spain with local artists. They cover many of Jackson’s well-known standards, along with some Lindley favorites. From my listens, it seems like David plays mostly Hawaiian guitar, and he is superb. Jackson’s playing and singing, along with that of their Spanish guest performers, is equally impressive. This is a more laid back style of music, with primarily acoustic instruments, and I thoroughly enjoy it. The recording itself, though not quite as stellar as The Road East, is clear and full — excellent for a live recording– and the musicianship, as I mentioned, is top notched. The only drawback for me was the packaging. It comes in a fold out cardboard package that features photos of the performers on stage — this part is great. But the cds slide into indentations in the cardboard, held in place by two light cardboard tabs. While it is attractive packaging, it allows the cds to slide around in transit. I have bought three copies of this cd set now, and all the discs were scuffed. One disc was scuffed severely enough that it wouldn’t play properly and I had to return it. Another set was missing the booklet. The booklet is something not to be missed, since it tells the story of how the tour in Spain came about and unfolded. In conclusion, I can recommend this cd set to anyone who loves Jackson’s music — the featuring of David Lindley and Jackson’s Spanish friends makes this concert recording stand out from other albums. However, be advised of the remote possibility that you may receive a copy with a damaged disc.

A week ago I traveled to Washington to see the Jackson Browne with David Lindley concert with my sister. The only other time I saw Jackson Browne or paid much attention to his music was in 1979 at the No Nukes concert in San Luis Obispo. So I went to the show not expecting to be very into it. I was pleasantly surprised. It was a wonderful concert. This album is a good reflection of that show. The fact that it’s acoustic makes it completely pleasant to just turn on and relax to. Last night I sat in bed reading and writing and being soothed and entertained by this album.

Now, it is a concert in SPAIN. Therefore there is Spanish being spoken and sung. In fact, the recording contains a mix of Spanish songs and well-known Jackson Browne songs. I’m studying the Spanish language and think it’s beautiful so I was pleased to hear Jackson and David it speaking it to their audience. I thought the Spanish songs were good. But if you’re looking for straight American Jackson Browne tunes then you may be disappointed with this recording. As for me, it renewed my appreciation for Jackson’s music. In fact, I just downloaded a fresh copy of The Pretender… ah… back to my college days!

The next voice you hear”!

Live performances… First saw these 2 together in a small club in Phila. In 1974… They have aged well together and like all of your favorite musicians… music is a little older… but the magic is still there. Worth the price

what a delightful surprise this cd is. As one who might have been turned off by
the songs in another language I actually found my self playing them over again.

After all if you are buying a cd of a concert that was in Spain, you would have
to expect some of the flavor of that country to seep into the c.d.

I was surprised to hear Luz Casal sing These Days (one of my favorite Browne songs)
she was magnificent. I loved the accents of the people who sang in English, even though it
was not their native language – it added
to the c.d. and made me feel like i was in an outdoor concert in Spain.

the traditional song Stay was really livened up with very entertaining vocals in the Love is Strange
segment. You could almost sit there (yes even at work) and think you were at the concert!
One thing i noticed the audience was not as enthusiastic about singing along, or maybe this
was because “Stay” was not in their native language.

This cd is arranged in a way that you are constantly put into a different gear…..one minute you
are soul searching and bluesy…the next you want to stand up and sing.

Most of the songs were Jackson’s best and he did a fantastic job of pulling together
people i would never have heard otherwise – Thanks for bringing the world outside my
Manhattan Island apartment closer to me!

Are you kidding me…Jackson Browne and David Linley. This a beautiful work. Easy on the ears and the soul. If you like JB and don’t have this one, you should add it to your collection. If you are young, and or have been living under a rock and don’t know this artist, you should. Amazing talent in songwriting, one of the very best.

As a long time fan of Jackson Browne, I was really looking forward to this release. On listening to this releasse, the quality of the set list and the re-interpretation of already fimiliar material exceeded my wildest expectations. Taking a staple like Running on Empty and reimagining it in a different musical environment has given new life to this great song. Even a song like The Next Voice You Hear, grossly underappreciated as an extra track on a best of compilation, is greatly enhanced in this setting. The presence of David Lindley adds subtlety to the stripped down playing of these amazing musicians. Compliments have to be handed out to Jackson Browne for continually acknowledging the contribution of the musicians involved, to the point of handing the limelight to these musicians on a number of tracks, particularly the vocal of Luz Casal on These Days is truly stunning. I have played this cd every day since receiving it, up to seeing Jackson Browne and David Lindley in concert 2 weeks ago, after that incredible performance it might paly it forever more.

I don’t write reviews. Well, once in a great while I’m moved to do so.

    This is such a case.

If you’re like me, and consider Jackson Browne to be one of the finest songwriters of our time, AND have enjoyed David Lindley’s music (both with and without Jackson), You are going to LOVE this!

Stripped of production, no rock band backing them. It’s just the two of them, along with talented Spanish percussionist Tino di Geraldo. And – they sound GREAT!!!!!

Later they’re joined by some guest vocalists and performers, who do nothing but add to this great recording.

    So, JUST BUY IT!
