My first impression of this cooking appliance before use was that it’s a bit gimmicky, like what will they come up with next? Nonetheless, I use my standard slow cooker all the time so I figured why not try it. Well I was wrong and this Stirmax is wonderful!

It’s not perfect and there are still dishes I prefer to make in my regular slow cooker, like a beef pot roast. The Stirmax can be used without the stirring paddle but the small metal shaft it attaches to sticks up in the middle. In order to cook a large roast you have to cut the meat in half to place it evenly for cooking. I don’t like to do that and it’s my personal preference and the only negative thing I have to say about this appliance.

The first thing I made in my Stirmax was my favorite slow cooker chili recipe. I used the slow intermittent stirring for the duration of 4 hours while cooking on low. The flavor was amazing and the consistency of the broth was smooth and velvety. In my standard slow cooker it’s usually a bit watery and tastes great but it’s like the constant stirring really melds all the flavors together, resulting in an even better taste.

I’ve made several other meals since and they’ve all turned out great. The manual is thorough and easy to reference until I get all the settings down. While I’m glad they used a ceramic coating rather than something really unsafe like Teflon, it too is known to eventually chip and flake regardless of how careful you are. It should last at least a couple years or more depending on how often you use it.

Overall I think this is a great cooking appliance especially if you are a slow cooker fan. It makes amazing flavorful dishes.

I will start by saying I haven’t used this much yet. I do a lot of meal prep/freezer cooking, so I will end up cooking for a whole weekend every month or two, to make almost all my food for the next month or two. This means I end using my crock pot to make a lot of the food. With one of the primary things being making big batches of scrambled eggs for my breakfasts. The problem is when I am crock potting 60+ eggs at a time, the eggs on the edges of the crock pot end up overcooking and getting rubbery. This should solve that problem. I was worried about durability of this when I ordered it, wondering if it would be able to stir a thick eggs mixture, or ground beef. However, once I got it I was pleasantly surprised to see that both the “bowl” and the stirrer are metal. I’m not longer worried about the durability or of it ability to stir thick mixtures.

I really enjoy this pot. I have used it at least 5 times since I got it. Easy to use, it really does the cooking for you. Buy it it won’t disappoint.

At first, I thought this was just a slow cooker, but it is so much more! There are 9 different settings from a simple saute’ to Risotto. I have made 2 things so far, risotto and bolognese. If you have ever made risotto from scratch you know you stir, and stir and stir. With the Stirmax XL you do not need to keep stirring, just add the liquid as needed. My first batch came out dryer and not as creamy as I would like but with practice I will get it better. Second the bolognese! I was able to cook the meat, and vegetables and simmer the sauce all in one pot with very little hands-on. I left it to simmer for over an hour with the paddle on a slow stir and it turned out wonderful. The pot is completely nonstick and is easy to clean, in addition, I put in the dishwasher and it came out as good as new. I read in another review about the Facebook page which I will have to look up as I will need some more recipes than it comes with before I feel confident adjusting a standard recipe to one that I can use in the Stirmax. Only negative is that it is fairly large and I have yet to find a home for it in my kitchen.

Sliders and a soup. I wish the book of recipes came with the the Power XL Stirmaster

This self stirring multi-function cooking pot has many great features. The cook with a creative cooking style can create many fine dishes. The one drawback is the shape of the pot allows food to build up in the corners while cooking. So occasionally attention and some interaction is needed. Easy clean up.
