The last studio album by the duo (it’s actually the sixth if the 1967 “Good Times” Soundtrack is included) transfers well to CD, but it’s the mix in the original master that hurts this album most. The synthetic orchestrations by producers Denis Pregnolato and Michel Rubini overwhelm the material and sound tinny (I found myself fiddling with my equalizer while listening to the record, hoping to inject some bass into the proceedings). Oddly, Cher’s vocals are not in the forefront. On some tracks (“I Can See Clearly” and others) her voice sounds filtered and sits too far back in the mix. There’s also too much Sonny, and on some of the tracks, his vocals actually seem more prominent than Cher’s (including on the tedious title track, a noisy, repetitive opus that clocks in at over 9 minutes). Also, the album could have benefited from greater care: some of the duo’s harmonies miss the mark at crucial points (song crescendos, typically) and the tracks should have been re-recorded for more polish and precision on the vocal pitch. The songs would have worked better under Snuff Garrett’s hand (who produced the duo’s 1972 “All I Ever Need Is You” album and most of Cher’s releases from 1971-1974). Still, it’s the first time the album has been released fully intact with original album art on CD (45 years is far too long to wait). The CD itself also is made to look like the original LP, with the black, rainbowed MCA label. Best cuts: “By Love I Mean,” “It Never Rains in Southern California,” “You Know Darn Well,” “Greatest Show on Earth.”

Packaging strepitoso, praticamente il vinile originale in miniatura!!! Curato e realizzato veramente con attenzione. Album rimasterizzato in cd da Dio! Che dire, da avere!!! Stop.

I was so happy to see this classic album come out Finally on CD. The only song I don’t like is a Neil Diamond cover Brother Love’s Salvation Show, but every other song is great. By Love I Mean is a must hear. It is a Cher solo and I am so surprised it was not a hit as I think it is one of the highlights of the album. I hope in the near future the original All I Ever Need Is You Album is released on CD. There is a Sonny And Cher “All I Never Need Is You” CD out, but it is not the same as the original. The songs are not the same. But, I hope there are future releases of Sonny And Cher. My only gripe is that the first five songs were not recorded very well. Otherwise it is great and I am sure if your a Sonny And Cher fan you will enjoy this!!!!
