I started testing it out around my house. Yes of course my cell phones set it off. But I was beyond shocked when I discovered my land line phone/answering machine in my office was constantly sending signals. I have to investigate why but I ❤️❤️❤️ this product.
I wish I had it when I was traveling across the USA 13 colonies during 3 weeks in June and July. I stayed in a different hotel each night and my “creepy feeling – female gut meter” was going off. I bet I was being recorded in the two hotels that also screwed up with the billing charging me automatically for $65 in incidentals which never occurred—I am having those credited.

Unclear instructions No indication if sensor is actually working Light should show up green if hidden device is detected Red indicator light could mean it’s not functioning correctly in my mind

Excellent device works great locating any device that is or will be filming you but you need to charge it overnight before constant use

Good tool to have when you’re traveling staying in hotels or even if you would feel uncomfortable staying at a friends house use it to scan the room for hidden cameras works great.

My hope was you could turn this on in a room and it would automatically detect a hidden camera and lead you to it. That does NOT work. If you can hunt down the camera yourself and direct then pen straight into the eye of that camera it will alert, but that doesn’t help me. If I could find the camera itself then I wouldn’t need the pen. Also this was tested using a hidden camera we had purchased and setup ourselves so I knew where it was. If I didn’t know where it was I never would have found it with this pen. This is not what I was hoping for.

If you’re considering to buy one of these devices, I would recommend you to buy at least two from different manufacturers and then make comparisons. I happened to purchase the Prepared Hero Privacy Pen and the Navfalcon Hidden Camera Detector. I don’t have any affiliation with either company. They both work equally well on signal detection mode. They were both able to detect my Ring cameras and iPhone camera on signal detection mode. However, on infrared mode it was only the Navfalcon Hidden Camera Detector that detected the camera lenses in my Ring cameras and iPhone. The Prepared Hero Privacy Pen was NOT able to detect the camera lenses on my Ring cameras and iPhone. I posted a photo so you can see for yourself. As instructed, the infrared mode was used in a dark room. The lighting was the same in both product photos.
Signal detection mode detects devices that are on and actively sending signals. But what if there is a hidden camera that is currently turned off? That’s what the infrared mode is for. Camera lenses emit infrared light regardless of whether it is recording or not. Infrared mode is supposed to detect camera lenses whether the device is on or off. So if you’re using the infrared mode of the Prepared Hero Privacy Pen, then you may not be as secure as you think. If you’ve already purchased this, then try turning on infrared mode and point it at your phone camera in a dark room. You should see a red light where the camera lens is whether the phone is on or off. In my case, I did not see it with the Prepared Hero Privacy Pen but I did see it with the other brand.
I don’t regularly post reviews. I actually posted this as a question first in the hopes that the manufacturer would use it as feedback to improve their product and I would have left it at that. Instead, I got a response from the manufacturer insinuating that it’s my fault and that I didn’t read the manual or view their video (both of which I had already done several times). Take this as feedback to improve your product instead of blaming your customers and assuming that they don’t read manuals.

After taking this pen on a three week trip, staying in many hotel rooms, Im very disappointed in this thing. It dinged on EVERYTHING. Not worth the money or aggravation.
