    Bought this book for my sister and she said it is very helpful in prepping her with the materials provided in the book.

    I got this to help my grand daughter in her Chem Regents. I took mine some sixty years ago so I was also interested in the change. By the way she did better than I did, congrats! Fundamentally Barron’s has not changed. Used it back then for all my Regents and still have my old Physics and Latin 2. So the book does what is purports, presents old Regents exams. With answers and some explanations.

    However the NY State Regents seems useless in today’s world. It is a test on memorization of facts and in my opinion fails totally to determine if the student can think through a set of problems. In a world requiring technical competence of a sort, memorization of “words” and their meanings is no science. No wonder so few seek to follow a technical field. They see what is demanded of a student and ten think this is what they will do forever! Pity.

    The issue is simple. Chemistry should expose you to certain facts, enable you to use a collection of “tools”, and show you how to solve problems, like puzzles. It is an iterative process, understanding measurements, reactions and anticipating results. Not just facts.

    THE PICTURE SHOWN WAS OF THE 70TH EDITION, BUT WE RECEIVED THE 50TH EDITION FROM 1999!!! THE MOST RECENT REGENTS EXAM WAS FROM 1998. HOW CAN WE POSSIBLY STUDY FOR A 2013 REGENTS FROM A BOOK THAT’S ANCIENT??????????????????????????????????????? BY THE TIME WE WOULD SEND IT BACK AND ORDER A NEW ONE, IT WILL BE TEST TIME. NOT WORTH THE HASSLE. VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT IT DID NOT CONTAIN THE MOST RECENT REGENTS EXAMS ADVERTISED.

    I didn’t buy all of the barrons book for the nys regents but this one was definitely worth the $$. This book includes a ton, and I mean A TON of practice material!!!! This really prepared me for the regents, on which I got a 91%.
