I ordered this to replace an Avenir Comfort-Plus that I’ve been riding since 1996.
The Avenir was and still is the most Comfortable (So Comfortable – Plush!) of any saddle I’ve tried.
It was in prefect condition all those years and 100s of mile of riding. Some joker messed with it while I had it locked-up while shopping – pulled the horn up so it started a mild up-down wiggle and then eventually flipped up, otherwise I’d Still be riding it – I may just put it back on my bike and tape the horn so it can’t flip up.
Of course we can’t get anything of that high quality these days – at least not that I can find; and certainly not at any reasonable price. When I bought the Avenir in ’96 it was $35 so if you could find something comparable today it would probably cost 4 times that.
I found the ‘Cloud-9 Comfort’ not very comfortable in comparison and actually it feels kind of hard and doesn’t have the high profile (built-up gel-foam cushion) the Avenir is known for.
I’m still within the ‘returnable’ period and probably will return the Cloud-9. I wish someone could advise on a saddle that rivals the Avenir Comfort-Plus.

This seat is great. I got the lycra option. If you pedal a lot this sear stays out of the way while pro ing superior padding.

It’s probably one of the best things you can do for your bike just put Cloud 9 on it. I have to have Cloud nines on all my bikes. Save your butt. No if buts or maybes. I can’t have a bike without a cloud 9 on it.

I purchased this based on many positive user reviews. HOwever, I found it to be very uncomfortable to my bottom. It’s probably due to my anatomy 🙂 . This is my 4th comfort seat which I am going to return. I now revert back to a Bell comfort seat that I purchased from Walmart at $25.00 (rightmost in the picture) which I found to be the most comfortable. The seat in the middle of the picture is a no name brand from ebay – the material and contour are better suited to me and hence more comfortable than the Cloud-9 which I consider as the least comfortable of the 4.

The seat wasn’t attached to the cardboard display. The mounting bolt and nuts are scratched and it looks like they were used. Seems to me that I received a previously returned seat, and paid full price. I attached the seat using the rails only, no using the scratched pieces, so the seat looks great and is comfortable. Just shouldn’t have been changed full price.

I can’t say much about comfort just yet due to installing last night, but if it’s half as comfortable as it is beautiful and well built this will be an amazing seat! Super easy install.

Better Confortable than my original seat.

My son (and my wife for that matter) cannot stand those skinny uncomfortable seats that most mountain bikes have. I don’t mind, but then again, they don’t ride as much as I do, so they are not used to it. So, before I rebuilt one of our old TREK bikes which will have included a new seat, I decided to look into what’s out there in terms of comfort and, for that lack of a better term, sportiness. I wanted something comfortable yet still compact — a not-so-big seat that would not overpower the rest of the bike, in other words.
When it comes to aftermarket parts and accessories for bikes, things like bags and handle bars and whatnot, I really like what Sunlite has to offer. They offer stuff of the highest quality at affordable prices, and their line of CLOUD 9 comfort seats are no different.
As for the seat:
According to my son who rides the bike the most, he thinks that this seat is very comfortable. I believe now that he will actually ride this bike more often. My wife, too, thinks that it is better than most seats, but she also thinks that it is still not as comfortable as a full-blown comfort seat with their wide saddle and spring-loaded goodness. It’s true, this seat is a compromise, but a pretty darn good compromise, nonetheless. Though a huge comfort seat would have made this particular bike look weird, like a big UFO had landed on the seat post.
The color scheme of the seat is neutral, with its colors of grey and dark grey. It should look fine on a wide range of bikes.
It comes with one of those old-school seat post clamps, but you can take it off and use the more modern clamp that is already built on to newer seat posts. By the way, Sunlite makes really great, high-quality seat posts too.
The foam top is very comfortable; it’s very squishy. And the rubber-bumper style springs work continually while you pedal, slightly rocking back and forth with each leg pump, not to mention too that they absorb a ton of bumps on really rocky ground.
My only beef is that heavier folks like me who weigh over 200 pounds can really give those rubber springs quite a workout. It seems to me that I am either bottoming them out or that they are under a lot of stress when riding over the harshest of terrain. It’s a somewhat annoying feeling. They also make that familiar sound when springs are under stress, sorta like a grinding noise. Though, I’m sure this would be true for all comfort seats, and that I probably would bottom out all but the most springiest of them. Then again, I’m so used to a rigid seat, that a seat like this would probably just take time to get used to. Sunlite makes the very same CLOUD 9 seat but WITHOUT the rubber springs. So, perhaps that might be the way to go if you are heavy. Either that or get a full-blown, monstrous comfort seat.
If you want a more modern-looking comfort seat that isn’t the size of a UFO but still provides plenty of squishy comfort, then you really can’t go wrong here. Highly Recommended!

Very comfortable

The gals version of this came on my bike stock and I think it is very comfortable . However when it came time to buy one for my other bike I could not see buying a girls seat and tried this one . Its good but not as comfortable for me . This seat seems to pick up moisture when it rains if the bike is outside at a rack too . When installing angle can make a huge difference . I like my seats tilting back a tad . I couldn’t do a proper test on this one because the battery interfered when the seat post and seat springs compressed and I needed my seat as low as possible . Still a very nice seat that comes with a round post mount or you can take it off and use a rail mount which I did . I found a very good suspension post here on amazon by xlc and recommend it . I like this seat better then the crusier cloud nine I also have tried . The womens version of this here fits me even better but we better keep that between you and me . With seats you really have to just keep trying them until your satisfied and different tilts can make a huge difference so don’t give up the first time move it about and try again . Also seats take about 200 miles to break fully in . Good luck . ps I prefer solid leather covers not this lycra . It does seem to get wet when their is dew or it rains and transfer that to my pants and you can’t just wipe it off like vinyl or leather . Hence – 1 star . The womens seat is just a little shorter and has a little less tailbone slit .
Note this is the seat I should of purchased it doesn’t collect water the ladies version is on my other bike . Sunlite Cloud-9, Bicycle Suspension Comfort Saddle, Comfort Gel Mens, Black Emerald
Hope this helps someone this one is cooler in hot weather but I would rather have a dry butt after it rained .
